Have you ever come across a person with a disability and weren’t quite sure how to act or treat them? This video highlights an 11 year old girl named Phoebe who has Cerebral Palsy.

Although Phoebe can’t walk or talk she is very goal driven and wants people to know she’s just like them despite her disability. Some people talk down to Phoebe like she’s a baby and this really bothers her.

Just because someone looks, talks, walks, or acts different than you does not mean you should treat them any differently.

According to Phoebe, “You might meet me or someone else with a physical disability. Don’t treat us like a baby or ignore us. Talk to me.”

No matter the disability, it’s important to treat everyone the way you would like to be treated. The next time you come across someone with an apparent disability, don’t be afraid to talk to them.
