Holy Grail to dealing to narcissists

I've noticed something about my mind when dealing with narcissists, whether directly or indirectly or when they're just doing their own "thing". I would see something they do that will trigger me but only if I react emotionally. Like mentally it will register in my mind, whatever they're doing, but if I think twice or have my emotions involved, I would react, impulsively, immediately and I would then react emotionally to the extent I would look unreasonable. It almost felt like a rubber band, a pulled rubber band where the pulled part is my mind registering the action or word and the snap and sting of the rubber band being released is my thinking twice and emotionally reacting to whatever they're doing or saying. I then realized I don't have to think twice or react whenever I'm around narcissists. That's exactly what they want to do.
