I remember

It was my year 6 graduation in primary and before I attended my mum said she couldn't make it. It wasn't really a big deal to me because I knew she was too sick. Towards the end of the ceremony they were calling out 5 people to receive scholarships to go to Ferguson Intermediate. I was hoping I would get one but everyone who had received one were really smart- so I didn't have a chance. They called out the last name and it was me!. I remember feeling kind of disappointed because nobody was going to be in the crowd clapping. Then I saw this hand wave. It was my mum sitting in the back row. To this day it still makes me so happy to see her face smiling back at me. She looked so proud. I didn't realise how much pain she would have been in because she died 2 months later. But I'm so thankful to have her as my mum for 11 years.
