Lonely Days

By Novni Community Member

Some days I feel quite lonely. Certain days really weigh on me, but I have a bunch of different escapes that help me and maybe they'll help some of you too.

To combat my loneliness I first have to realize when I'm feeling especially down on myself and wishing I had someone to share my time with. Once I catch myself in this crummy state of mind I do a couple of things that help me snap out of it.

Listening to music helps brighten my mood and distract me from negative thoughts.

Writing helps express myself and get things off my chest. This site is a perfect place for that, hence this post.

Watching funny shows, movies, or YouTube clips makes me laugh and takes my mind off feeling lonely.

Playing sports helps me too. When I'm focused on playing, I'm interacting with other friends and strangers and am not thinking about feeling lonely.

Hanging out with my friends and family helps me as well. If you don't have many friends, maybe play an online game where you can talk with others.

Playing video games helps pass hours by when I need a break from a busy mind and feeling alone.

Reading helps for the same reason.

I also try to avoid social media like Facebook. Its easy to get jealous of other people looking happy with friends and significant others. Lessen your time spent on social media and that could help you too maybe.

I'm not sure if any of this will help you, but these things work for me and hopefully they'll help someone else too.

I never fully escape the loneliness, but lessening the blows helps make life more manageable until the loneliness subsides.

Nobody is going to feel sorry for you...sometimes it's up to you to get off your butt and help yourself feel better. Orrr you can stay seated and read/write/listen to music/watch tv -movies-funny stuff/play video games.

Whatever works best for you :) Hope that helps. Writing this post helped me today.
