A Letter to the Youth

By Novni Community Member

Kids these days are feeling the weight.

The weight of their parents' flaws.

The weight of the world's conscience.

They hear better than anyone the desperation

of a sickened society screaming for help.

Grown folks aren't doing much to change either.

Every day there's a new story about a war,

poverty, corruption in politics, money races, and fake asses.

They are feeling the weight of the institutions,

rules and regulations, clauses, curfews, boundaries,

standards and limitations.

They speak up, but nobody pays attention.

Kids these days scribble on their notebooks about

suicide and depression.

Hell, they even post about it.

Their friends reply with "same."

They post about not caring.

But words mean nothing because they're the ones who care the most.

We have lost sight of what matters in life and what life means.

I'm here to tell you that you're not alone.

You were created at a time in history when pillars are falling

and things are changing by the minute.

Give others credit too, because no one saw things turning out this way.

Be mindful of the small chances you get to change lives around you for the better.

No one has the life experiences, memories, abilities, phobias,

vision and passion that you have.

You ARE someone, no matter how lonely you feel.

You ARE important, no matter how tired you are.

You ARE loved, no matter who let you down.

You ARE strong, no matter how weak you feel.

Keep fighting for truth, justice, and what is right in this world.

And if you aren't ready to live for yourself yet, then do it for the

people who didn't get that choice today.
