Dealing with Depression & Anxiety

By Novni Community Member

Acceptance is hard. We will all, in some time in our lives, go through something that with every fiber in our being is hard to accept. Sometimes it's in unfair things. Sometimes it's loss of something we love. Sometimes it's something we never expected; death, sickness, or betrayal.

Whatever it is we have to accept it. It cannot be undone. Now we have to deal with it, or sit in reasoning with it, asking why. Save yourself time & pain. It could take time & a lot of venting, but accept what you are going through. Without minimizing your feelings about it. It will take time & a ton of practice. Maybe every day for days or years. Whatever it takes.

Outlet

Find an outlet! Run it off, paint it off, get a punching bag & punch it off, work it off, talk it off...whatever works for you. Just do something to get toxic anger or sadness out of you until you gain acceptance.

Don't use stimulants if you have anxiety. Stress and caffeine can make it worse!

Get medication if it's really difficult to function in your normal way. At least until you can gain perspective on your feelings & they aren't taking over.

Don't listen to to anyone who minimizes your feelings. Get support from someone that you know in your heart has your best interests in mind.

Forgive any wrongdoings. No one is perfect & don't expect yourself to be. Nor let anyone tell you who or what you are nor guilt you for being imperfect.

For everyone reading this...I wish you all the best as you work out the kinks of your life. You have value & the ability to make contributions to this world, however small or large thy may be.

Depression, Anxiety, Forgiveness, +1
