Ben Haggerty, commonly known as Macklemore, is a recovering addict. He's abused painkillers such as Oxycontin and Percocet, but knows that he's not alone.
Over 2 million Americans struggle with opioids which makes it the worst epidemic of addiction in American history. Ben first got sober in 2008, but has had numerous relapses since then and knows he'll always struggle with addiction.
In 2014, 47,055 Americans died from drug overdoses. What's more shocking is that the majority of those deaths were not caused by the types of drugs you might be thinking of. 44% of overdose deaths were from prescription opioids, more commonly referred to as prescription painkillers.
This documentary takes a closer look into the life of recovering addicts, and provides an exclusive interview between Ben and former President Obama surrounding the current addiction epidemic. Do yourself a favor and carve out 42 minutes of your day to watch this documentary if you or a loved one is struggling with addiction.
