a salvation and an issue.
I've seen first hand the healing it does for someone emotionally and mentally, but almost everyone on the planet has also seen how it can cause conflict, pain and hurt in extreme cases of radicalism and extremism.
It is quite astounding how a common belief can bring millions of strangers together under one house and category and allow them to work together. This is functional as they have a common cause which within most religions is usually positive and wholly spiritual. However, if you turn on the news today there is a high chance that you will witness a report of some terror attack or an attack of prejudice purely driven by religion. If religion did not exist then perhaps conflict would be less of an issue? Perhaps not?
Since the Cognitive Revolution, common myths and beliefs have been essential to evolution. Maybe religion is nothing but a step in the evolution of humans? Who knows how great this step is currently? Is there a possibility that humans could move forward in the same way without it? We will never know.
Collectively, humans need to understand each other better and be more accepting. That is the ideal. That is also unrealistic.
I think religion could be the end of the race if it is left to go too far.

I don't know exactly what to say about you post, but i've had the same sort of thoughts before. And i think you're right about that religion could be the end of the race if it is left to go too far. Humans are really weird about religion, but in some ways it's helpfull. I'm not religious myself so i couldn't say anything for certain and i don't want to offend anyone, but i think that the human race would be better off without religion. Religion can either heal a person or destroy them, in my opinion it does more bad then good. Please don't hate me for this comment, i'm truly sorry if i offended anyone.
ReplyI am an atheist. That alone may offend some people, however it shouldn't. Just as people shouldn't be offended if I were Buddhist or a Christian. It's just the world we live in
ReplyYeah, you're right about that. I'm not offended by you being an atheist, it's your choice.
ReplyYou don't have to believe in religion to believe in god.
I have had experiences that leave no doubt in my mind that god is there.
People who don't want to feel guilt for what they do and who also want to lead you to do those same things will tell you there isn't a god...so that you feel better for doing like they do!
It is people who stop believing in god ...and good that will end this world!
Go ahead! It is written the worse things get the closer we get to the end times!
Everything that is happening was written in the bible!
People will turn against god...we will start killing each other...people only out for themselves .....we are there!
People are cruel ...and only seek self gratification ...
It was already predicted by god!
So keep on...it just means we are that much closer to learning real truth!
ReplyThis is my take on things;
GOD / CONSCIOUSNESS is Everything That Exists in an Infinite Space of Pure Potential with probability governing that which happens and the way things change. The usual (like avoiding auto accidents by driving safely) is probable and the unusual (like purchasing the winning lottery ticket) is possible but unlikely. I can take actions to increase or decrease the probability of these and other specific outcomes but with very few guarantees, especially when others are involved. Most occurrences involving me are likely but also happen without my direct influence, leaving me only the option to react. Life is fairly predictable with its expected goodness and badness.
We humans have only been at this civilization stuff for a very short time in the larger scheme of things. Religion has had its usefulness and its fair amount of abuses. It may run its natural course and cease to be a major factor in a couple of centuries. Hopefully we will can avoid planet ending disaster, man-made and natural, and have the time to get this right.
