I don’t know why TV shows exist. They might be to entertain their audience, earn money, or maybe spread a central idea. Whatever the purpose is, here’s what I feel after watching a TV show.
There are these times in your life when there seems nothing to do. You open your website and there are no updates. You open your social media account and nothing interests you. Maybe you open your old files and just dismiss them as just the past.
So you start searching for things to do, and this TV show pops up. A perfect thing to spend your long break. The first one doesn’t always fit. Maybe it’s too scary, boring, or just not your type. Until you find something that actually interests you. Let’s have a look, shall we?
When an episode finishes, you feel a sense of accomplishment, but also the urge to find out what will happen next. You know, however, that you are not binge-watching the show. You promise yourself that after the next one, you will turn your computer off or do something else.
Whoops, now it’s well past your usual bedtime. Sadly you close the computer and turn the lights off to go to sleep.
But the problem is, you can’t. Many scenes pop into your head. They just keep replaying like a CD. There are loose ends that you want to resolve. Of course, you can just watch the last episode, but that means spoilers, right?
It’s next day, and you feel guilty for watching so many episodes in a row. You feel terrified of how many more episodes and time you need to watch and spend. Therefore, now is the time to end it all. By watching the show finale.
So it ends. Everything that you have been accustomed to. All the people that you were getting to know. Their stories are over. Their stories are so similar but also different. Why are their stories so interesting? Why is my life not stimulating like that? While they are going to adventures, meeting new people, I am just sitting in front of my old computer and watching these random videos.
I wish that someday I will have something special. That might be a power, an instinct, or… just something abnormal. That would make my life much more interesting. Yes, like in TV shows, hiding the truth might be challenging, but at least there should be something more to the purpose of my life.
But I don’t. I wasn’t secretly adopted, I wasn’t appointed for a special mission, and I certainly am a normal human being. I know that I’m not special in that way.
Why are there tears? I know that TV shows are not real. These people are just actors. I know that, but that still doesn’t stop me from wanting to be different.
Well, I still have time and other episodes that I missed in the middle. I know, though, that something different, something special will happen in my life, sooner or later. Until then, I will keep watching these shows to see how fun my life could have been.

That is the most interesting writing piece I've read all day. Did you know Anton LaVey ( the founder of the satanic church) said that the TV is the major mainstream infiltration of the new satanic religion
ReplyThe problem isn't the TV shows. The problem is with a lack of differentiation between your emotions and experiences and those of others, real or fictional. Additionally being stuck in a pattern of inactivity in front of the TV is just growing a lack of meaningful activity and motivation.
ReplyI think it's just a cycle of boredom...
