I see people in some of the deepest and darkest moments of their lives on a daily basis, but tonight was different. Forget about the left/right, what we are seeing in the media, what we believe/support, or what someone else has told us we should think.
Forget the screen on which we view photos/videos. Last night, I met with face to face with a human being. A human who has been completely stripped of the only life he has known because he ran out of milk. A father/husband who went to to the corner store to get milk for his 3 babies (under 4 years old) and his wife. Who walked out of the gas station and walked past a plain clothed ICE agent. He was stopped and questioned. He was stripped of all his belongings. His phone (the only one his family used), wallet (which held the only money his family had), and car (which only has his name on it so his wife can't get it out of impound). A man who was brought to this country at the age of 5 and has been trying to get a legal status for YEARS. A man who has never known the country he is being sent back to. A man who was stripped down, with his head between his knees, and sobbing, as he the only life he has known is now gone from him. A man whose family hasn't a clue where he is & he has no way to let them know. A human being who went out for milk and will never see his family again. A family who has lost their husband, father, and provider; who didn't think that him going to get milk would be the last time they ever saw him again.
Please just remember that even with all the politics, at the end of the day, these are human lives, mothers/fathers, husbands/wives, brothers/sisters, and friends. Many whom have known no "home" but America. Peoples lives are being permanently altered and the holes they leave behind are significant.

ReplyI agree! But I also agree not to hurt others in your quest.
ReplyWith this GOP administration and with this presidency, that's when. I've been alive a long time and have never seen such disgusting and shameful nonsense until now.
