I’m an artist. I’ve gone through a lot of styles and career choices. And I feel very stuck. Currently I’m working at a desk job and just got out of college. I feel like no matter what my current work, despite how good it may be, goes very unnoticed. And that kind of upsets me. Because I like doing it, but I really want my work to be seen. I just want to make a living doing what I love and being stuck at this desk job fresh out of college and getting shot down at every art studio I apply to is really discouraging. I have another avenue though, something I tried a long time ago, tattooing. This is something that is easy for me to draw and accomplish success in easily as there are many people that wish to see me try again. I feel like I may just be wanting to try this very different avenue because I feel like a failure in the other. But I’m afraid I will feel the same way later on about the work I currently do when trying to pursue tattooing which is very different than my current work. I don’t know if I should just let myself feel stuck for a while in the hopes that something may become of my current work, or try something new. I just want to be known for what I do and no matter how hard I try, I go unnoticed. I guess it boils down to, should I do something I enjoy and may work out in a few years? Or should I do something that will give me instant gratification?

tattoo artist make money lot more than normal artist.
ReplyNot necessarily. It can just depend. And as far as the “normal art” I’m talking about, it’s concept design for games and movies. Both art styles of which I am very good at. But no matter how good, it is very difficult to get into.
ReplyEtsy your work 2nd join fb groups and post your work also create a fan page. Get followers in the groups. After about 25000 real followers in your fan page make a website. Join Twitter and do the same. After you have a solid 75k to 200k followers your work will sell fast and people will come to you wanting to showcase your work. It will take time 1-3 years ish if you do it right. Don’t under sell your work on Etsy.
Replycan you share your work? if you mind me asking cause i love art aswell and aspiring to be creative
i understand your feeling of wanting recognition, me personally i only want to be acknowledged by being able to contribute to the world in the most wholesome way possible and create something just different.. today it can be pretty difficult to capture something original for which can draw a wide array of audience... my main goal is just to be genuine and make things that are mesmerizing while also being able to trigger peoples inner being
im still curious to see your work, im confident in my keen sense of taste however i dont have the experience to guide you sadly,, all i can do is root for a fellow artist and perhaps tell how original your work is
