Second entry of this journal. I feel much less lonely than i was yesterday. I’m currently swarmed with homework and studying for tests. Who knew college was this hard. I’m a computer science major, and as most people assume, I’m going to make big money once i graduate. That is, if I find a job, actually, if I pass this class. College is like a big self assessment, which I am currently borderline failing. I recently learned to juggle 3 balls (using oranges). It was difficult at first, but I got the hand of it with practice.
“College is like juggling”
I am taking 3 major classes and 1 elective. Do you know how hard it is to retain 3 classes worth of knowledge and understand the content fully? It’s like everytime I go to lecture, I have to relearn everything. Furthermore, comp sci is hard. Harder than your Biology or Chemistry. The best analogy I can make is you have to think like a computer. Us humans, think like humans. Computers think like computers. Humans trying to think like computers requires a whole brain transplant of whatever you know into a binary, methodical, analytical, and mathematical machine. For all you compsci majors out there, maybe I’m just a little behind, but I’m pretty accurate.
In addition to academics, there is social life. Hanging out with friends is a must. You can’t survive by just studying or else you’ll turn into a zombie. I will talk more about my friend/social situation in another story. Self care is the next part I have to juggle. I have to make sure I’m eating well, exercising, taking care of my skin, and getting enough sleep.
It seems like there just isn’t enough time in one day to be able to do all these things. It’s like trying to juggle watermelons. I’m sure most students are dying on the inside, but the handful of students that are geniuses and excel in class. They are the resilient ones. I sometimes think about how they survive with barely anyone to talk to and selling their body and mind to academics. I guess everyone had to sacrifice a little.
Anyways, to lighten the mood, I can juggle 3 balls pretty well. I’m hoping I can get real juggling balls as a gift or something.
Whoever has the sweet time to read this, thank you ❤️ if you’d like me to talk about something, whether it be about me and my college life, or other stuff, let me know!
Good night 1:47am Alex, out!

Poem: Monday Mornings
You told me that I cause stress. I know I do. It’s because I see the fifteen other assignments I need to get done today, The things I should have done this...

Screwing up my life
My 3rd semester at the college I transferred into for sophomore year is almost about to end. I have a 2.8 cgpa on a scale of 4. I have screwed up beyond repair....
I am an electrical engineer who taught myself several programming languages and then worked as a software engineer. I am now back in college studying biochemistry and I can tell you, after programming, physics, multiple levels of advanced calculus.....nothing I have ever done is more difficult than organic chemistry. No system is more complicated than the human body.
Programming and software is very easy and logical. Once you know the rules, the computer just does what you tell it, and all language just have their own set of rules.
So, you seem a little full of yourself, and I guess that’s ok, but computers are very simple.
Replyspeaking of sounding a little full of yourself
yep. 2 peas in a pod.
ReplyHey Alex!
I'm studying co puter science too. I just started university. And I swear, I can relate to everything you said. About being able to think like computers, how there isn't enough time to practice self care, have a social life, and study, and just breathe. I totally relate.
I just felt like commenting on here because everything you said was just so accurate.
I hope you have a good day :)

ReplyIr sounds like you're getting the hang of it. Don't let yourself mistakenly think you've got all the answers though - there is always more to learn.
ReplyI hope you soon find more juggling things to do!
Replynot like that!! I meant I hope you find more things (objects such as fruits or other small objects) to actually juggle.
