In June 2016, my husband and I joined Slimming World. We were both extremely obese. I was 252lbs at 5' 6", and he was over 350lbs at 5' 11".
We had just got back from visiting his parents in Lanzarote, and the flights were exceedingly uncomfortable - 4 hours each way. Also, while we were there, he went to the local medical centre with breathing difficulties. Turns out h had been overdoing the asthma inhaler, when his breathing issues were caused by being so obese. The Spanish doctor didn't hold back AT ALL, so that further confirmed that we needed to take action (we were both 40 years old at this point, btw).
Fast forward 2 1/2 years, and he is now at a healthy weight - about half what he was, and when we went back to Lanzarote 12 months after we started SW, his parents didn't recognise him until he was less than 6 feet from his dad, an he said "Hi Dad". He had deliberately kept any images off FB, so it was a complete shock!!
Anyhow, I haven't had any significant weight loss for over 12 months. I got to about 3 stone lost quite quickly, then my female hormones woke up. Contraception and obesity had kept them quiet all through my 20's and 30's, and we have never wanted children, so I didn't care. Now, they were back with a vengeance - menstruation that last for 7 or 8 weeks became my new life. Cycling, which had become my primary form of exercise went out of the window, as I've never liked using tampons, and riding whilst using a sanitary towel is just impossible. I spent the whole winter 2016 and most of 2017, miserable and chasing the same 7lbs. I'd lose it, I'd gain it, I'd lose it again. On 14 August 2017, I was 199lbs, lowest I'd ever been as an adult, and the following week I gained a couple of lbs, and I've never been able to get back to it. Closest I've been is 200.5lbs, just before my birthday in October this year.
Why do I not feel the resolve to lose on a week when I have gained? Why do I think "Well, I've gained this week, despite following SW, so I might as well just eat any old thing, as I'm going to gain weight anyway" Why don't I think "I had a week of eating well, but maybe there was a hormonal reason that I gained, I'll continue to be eating according to the SW principles that I know work, and I'll lose at next week's weigh in"?
Any words of wisdom? I'm going back to my knitting!!!!

It's the weirdest thing to be upset about but, I just can't get over this recently. Of course people encouraged me to lose weight and were proud of me, but that...
