Looking back now, my parents were right about most everything. My parents? Geniuses, in their own way.
When my mom would tell me how to do something, I'd sometimes get defensive for a moment, but then, surprise, surprise! She was nearly always right.
My step-dad? Had more common sense in his pinkie toe than I had in my whole body.
I don't have to look back too far to see this truth. After all they're still alive. But as my step-dad's mom inches closer to death, I'm reminded that I have a limited amount of time with them. Enjoy every moment. That's what I hope to do. Before the hand of time sweeps them away, leaving me with sharp shards of bittersweet memories.
