I'm in a little bit of a hard situation and really could use some advice. I know alot of people struggle from social anxiety so I'd love to hear from you guys. I have horrible social anxiety and recently it's been really horrible. I'm almost failing college because I'm so nervous about being on campus/being in social situations. I'm a bartender and server. Work is never an issue for me because luckily I have a pretty good work ethic and I'm able to become good at anything I work hard at. So I chose serving and bartending to make some good cash as a college student. I pushed myself about 2 years ago when I started, and I remember how scary it was to serve at first with my social anxiety. Well here I am 2 years later with even worse social anxiety, but I have the opportunity to bartend for a very busy fast paced restaurant. I'm so terrified though, to start over in a whole new work environment. I already love where I work. But I really really could use the money. What do you guys think I should do? Stay at my good job or risk it and become the most awkward bartender to ever exist for a few months at a new place where I'll be making more money?

ReplyAlright Everytime u start feeling nervousness u need to stop and think about 3 things u can see 5 things you can hear 2 things you can taste 3 things you can touch. It works like magic.. and buy some lavender oil and wipe it on your sleeve just smelling that will help calm you down too. You can try some other tricks like pretending you're Budda while your anxious too
ReplyBasically I spent 30 mins writing just now but clicked somewhere and its all gone, sooo heres a quick summary of what I said:
- If you're willing to go for the money, do it.
- Practice lines (small talk).
- Write essays about subjects you can use in small talk. (If you're good at essays. - Like an introduction, 1 paragraph or more for body and a conclusion).
- Be polite and supportive.
- You don't have to keep eye contact, just look them in the eyes at times to show you're listening, but don't force yourself to cry.
- Meditation and budha stuff seem like they take time, but this does too so it's up to you.
If your current position hurts your psychological side, then don't do it. Psychological mind (i think) is basically how you view people, yourself and the world. Just, where the madness happens.
Trust yourself. You're an adult, so make the right decision and don't regret it. There's always positive vibes from everything, so look for them and use them as an excuse to keep moving forward.
