Ok, this may seem odd but what isn’t odd in this day and age? To put into context, I am a young girl (18) on her way to a place called Macquarie in Sydney, Australia (hey you aussie babes and mates) and there’s always this tiny little switch of bus drivers on the M41 bus. It’s a small thing but taking quite a few bus rides I’ve never really seen such a thing. They stop at this park and they switch drivers. It’s really an endearing sight because there’s always this gig they would do (didn’t matter which driver, because they always changed) and it goes as follows:
Current bus driver (cbs): hey, how’sit going mate?
New bus driver (nbs): oh nothing much. Busy?
CBS: nah mate, been quiet. All yours now.
NBS: sweet. Alright mate take care.
CBS: *adressing the passengers* thank you everyone. Bye, have a nice day.
NBS: *steps inside* Hello everyone. Nice day isn’t it.
And we’d all in some way reply. Ok, I know small talk and greetings are the norm but with everyone just so consumed on their iPhones or Samsung galaxy, I found we’ve kind of lost that kind of cordiality and when it hits, (and it’s hits rather sweetly and surprisingly) you can’t help but smile. It always makes my day to see this exchange and feel good. I feel like humans aren’t all that terrible and in some way we all crave a tiny bit of connection. A smile, a hello, a wave. It’s this small humane action that I find so beautiful and wonderful and worth being part of this race. I don’t know about you guys but I feel like I had to share this.
