In organizing some things I accidentally left a large child photo of my spouse on my desk.
A salesman stopped by my office. He assumed the person in the photo was my child.
I didn't see a reason to lie. I told him I was actually married to the person in the photo.
He had an immediate reaction of horror and disgust, like I was a pedophile.
I could tell the man totally believed I was a pervert.
The more I tried to explain, the more I could tell he believed I was a child molester.
The man left my office totally freaked out.
He never returned.
I often wonder how I should have handled that situation better.

Change the photo to a dog.. just see what happens once office gossip starts. Then weekly change it something increasing more bizarre (like fruits, shoes, Trump). You can't make someone listen, you can't make them smart either but you can have some fun in the process. Is that bad for me to think this way? Nah.
