Last semester at uni I started getting pretty bad headaches every couple of days. I went to the doctor and she suggested something, which turned out to be incorrect. I went back again and still, she was incorrect by the causes. She never gave me any additional advise. When I said I took pain killers but they didn't help, she said "Yeah, they won't" and moved on without any further words. My first appointment was 7 months ago. Now, I get headaches everyday. I've missed half my classes this year, and nearly failed a couple of my exams because I can't focus when my head hurts every single day. I'm so fed up with it now and I really don't know what to do. I realise that some people live with chronic headaches but I'm just so exhausted from feeling ill and trying to focus, and I'm struggling to cope with this additional factor in my life. I don't want to go back to my doctor because she'll say the same thing. What should I do?

Hey, I'm here.
Reading your story I think you should also probably think where the headaches are coming from.
Are you taking on too much? Worrying too much?
Also, maybe look into if it might be migraines.
Anyway, you have to get this checked out. It can't control your life like that.
Go see a different doctor that makes you feel taking seriously.
Take care x
ReplyHey,
I do worry about things an awful lot but I don't tend to get stressed too easily. But I'm pretty sure the headaches are making me stressed, which in turn makes them worse. I have an uncle that suffers from chronic headaches, and has been for almost 20 years, so I'm wondering if it's maybe a genetic thing that has just surfaced in the past year.
I do think I'll go and see a different doctor now, I'm typing this and my head is getting so much worse than it has been this week. I can't afford to do badly in exams since these next ones are important.
Thank you for your advice (:
ReplyFind a different doctor. If the doctor is taking your money and not solving the issue, they are not a good doctor. If they brush you off and make you feel irrelevant, they are not a good doctor. Research online for doctors and headaches/migraines and see what kind of docs are in your area that have good reviews for what you are going through. Good luck.
