Why are prisoners checked for any weapons when they're at the death house and about to get executed? I mean I know it's mainly for safety and also so that they can't commit suicide. But why don't they want the prisoners to commit suicide if they're going to die anyways? Death and death?
Why why why??

I answer your question with another question: why does the executioner swab the prisoner’s arm with alcohol before administering a lethal injection?
ReplyBecause it death at justice's hands not the criminal's own hands.
ReplyI guess suicide is not justice to people who believe in capital punishment. It's hard to rationalize any of it. You have uncovered the absurd hypocrisy of the whole thing.
ReplyIt has to be a Lawful killing at the hands of the State. The prisoner could turn the weapon on innocent people. Capital Punishment has to be done in a controlled environment, in a controlled manner. It's a Legal process which has to be adhered to in a civilsed society. Some people will argue that Capital Punishment is not civilised. If the prisoner blows his brains out, that's going to leave a mess for someone to clear up. If the State uses a Lethal Injection method, that's relatively clean. Justice would not be served for the victim or the families of victims if the criminal killed themselves.
ReplyIt's like cheating them out of the opportunity to handle their own fate. They want to actually punish them for something.
