a poem

Of all the apologies I have to say

There is one that stands so true

And that single “I’m so sorry”

Is the one that goes to you

to the person that finds this paper

And reads the words on this sheet

I am just so so sorry

But this life has had me beat

Its beat me in the “I’m okays”

And the common lie “im fine”

Every time I spoke those words

I moved farther from the line

The line that would finally show

that I have won this fight

And put this suffering to an end

With my golden happiness in sight

But instead is sit here writing

The line still moving farther away

In hopes that maybe someday

Ill be able to finally say “im okay”
