I will be taking a trip to New York today. 900 miles away! Driving for 16 hrs! The reason is, I’m going to a concert Saturday in New Jersey and since it’s so close to New York I decided to make a trip out of it. This will be my first concert, the first time I’ve traveled really. I’m so nervous. I have extremely bad social anxiety. I haven’t been out of my house in months so this is a huge step for me. I’m so scared. I feel as if I stick out. Like everyone notices me. I’m over weight, you see. And I don’t have a good face to make up for it either. I’m so scared I’m going to make people uncomfortable with how I look. Or how big I am. I’m so scared I’m going to have a breakdown about my self hatred again. But I’m going to try to have a good trip. Im going to try my best to ignore all those bad feelings.

Where did I go
I have no idea where I am. In my house. In my bed. But I’m not here. I don’t know who I am. I love life and I trust God, but that’s not who I see anymore....

I want to sleep and never wake up.
I look back into my 20 short years of existence, and somehow, I don't find one single moment where I truly, utterly felt happy. I grew up alone. And by alone...
Is this perhaps for BTS' concert...? If so, have fun, ARMY! I'm not good at giving any kind of advice since I'm pretty much in the same predicament as you when it comes to social anxiety, but one of the good things about a stadium concert is you could literally get lost in the crowd.
Out of the 80,000 people in METLIFE this Saturday, some of them will be feeling exactly as you do. Some of them will be as scared as you are, but the good thing about meeting strangers? You can get funky and act hilarious and you wouldn't have to worry about it because (1) they'll forget about it the next day, and (2) you'll likely never have to meet them again.
I do hope you bond with fellow fans for the concert, it's a special fandom because we all have that "family" culture and it's pretty close-knit, sharing something that bring all of us together: BTS.
ReplyIt is a bts concert! The only people I’d step out of my comfort zone for really! Seems like bts has that effect on lots of people. ☺️ Thank you for the encouraging words ARMY. Will you be attending also? I do hope I can bond with other fellow army’s while there. When it comes to my socializing skills I feel like a child in other people’s presence. I’m going to crush my fears though ☺️ I will have fun!
ReplyNo, I'm so sad I'm going to miss it. I live in VA, so NJ was supposedly where I should go for the concert, but my work had to send me in the Philippines for quite sometime just before BTS announced the NJ Speak Yourself concert. I'm pretty bummed about it, because I'm missing yet another concert.
Have fun for me! 💜😭
ReplyI really did have fun! You were completely right! I didn’t feel watched at all, didn’t feel like I stuck out. Got lost in the crowd. ☺️ Thank you so much for your encouragement.
I’m sorry you weren’t able to go! Have you ever been to a bts concert? I do hope you get to see them sometime soon ☺️ It was unreal.
