"Group hug!" she shouts, a grin on her face.
I'm hesitant
I edge forward instead.
I'm not slow on entering
When the juniors next to me jump in.
Then I join
Hugging all the humans
My new family
The rest of the freshman join me
I couldn't see who else I was holding in my embrace
But it sure was nice
Behind me, a bunch if boys looked hesitant
Like they were to good for group hugs
So instead they boxed us in
I didn't care, because I knew they were trying
When it broke, I felt all warm and happy
Now it's cold
And I wish she could call a group hug again
