I went to a concert thing

I always kinda hoped I'd get invited to one of those traditional high school parties with music and stupidity and stuff like in the musicals and stand-up comedy. I never did. When I started college, I kinda gave up on that. I thought it might happen, but I just don't know those kinds of people. So I gave up pretty much. But it did happen. Kind of.

This girl in my art class told me and another friend about this venue called The Mansion. It's this big old house this guy owns and he's tuned part of it into a venue for music shows by local bands and stuff. It's mostly punk stuff I guess.

Anyways, me and two friends went. It was small and I guess by-invite only. You have to know someone. They even have a fake address to fool random people and police that leads up this blocked-off road on the other side of town. We were tricked until someone gave us actual instructions. When we got there the music hadn't started yet. It was dark though. There were maybe 20 or 30 people there. We were introduced to the guy who owns the house. He was pretty cool. He explained that part of the reason they didn't want police was so they wouldn't kill the vibe and also so they wouldn't get in trouble for letting minors smoke and drink I think? Some people were around a fire pit in the side yard, others were chilling and smoking weed on the porch. We chilled awkwardly for a bit, talked about starting a girl band with the girl who invited us. Then the music started.

It wasn't technically good music, but it was really fun to listen to. There was a guy on drums and a guy with a synth organ thing and a microphone. It was basic and grungy and I'm pretty sure they made half of it up there. Everyone got really into it though and it was super fun. It was in what I think used to be the living room. There was even a little mosh pit of maybe six or seven people. The people doing music smoked some more weed inside so the whole thing smelled like pot smoke a little.

Overall, it was amazing!!! I had so much fun! My friends and I came up with w few rules about going there for events though. #1: We have to go together and we can't split up. If one of us is going to the bathroom, we all go. #2: No doing drugs or drinking or accepting strange liquids or food from people. Mostly because of pot brownies and alcohol-laced drinks and stuff. I don't think it will be a problem though. But we only take unopened drinks or food or stuff straight from the tap. #3: If there are hard drugs, we leave. Anything other than pot, cigarettes, or alcohol is too much. Again, I don't think it will be an issue, but still. And not really a rule, but an understanding: if anyone is uncomfortable and wants to go, we leave. We want everyone to feel good and safe.

But it was awesome and super fun and I can't wait for the next one!
