So for the past two days I have been experiencing some extremely low moods. To begin with, I have just started back at college (grade 11 for americans/year 12 for british) this week meaning that I've had to wake up earlier, at around 6:30 am. I've also had a deadline this week for an assignment after being on christmas holidays. For some odd reason, for the past few days, I've constantly been on the verge of tears most of the time if not crying. Today I cried at least 3-4 times and one of them last a good few hours. Simple things such as something not working on my computer caused me to cry. I am almost 17 years old and in around mid-october, I started the combined contraceptive pill. The first month I experienced physical symptons but now I've been feeling a lot more irritated and depressed. However, within the last few days this sadness has increased. I have noticed that I am due on my period (or a 'withdrawral bleed' in around 6 days) but for some reason I've never experienced this much sadness due to it. Sometimes I'll get worried about something in the middle of eating and I'll feel full easier. Sometimes though I'll be eating something and then half way through I just lose my appetite. I feel like something's wrong with me? Any advice?

Sounds like a side-effect of the pills. But feeling sad might have other underlying reasons that got amplified by the hormonal disturbances in turn caused by the pill. Talk to your doctor and also a counselor with an honest and open mind. Life is a great learning opportunity :)
