spend your nights clutching your blanket reading old text messages
try your hardest to relive the time you felt loved
because as time passes the image becomes more and more faded
you can't remember if it was you who lived through it all or a stranger.
so close your eyes. tighter. tighter.
try to recall a time you weren't this sad.
drown it all out with whatever you can
replace your oxygen with smoke
you couldn't breath already anyways.
turn up your music. louder. louder.
drink until you forget who you are
until you forget who they are
and replace your feelings with meaningless affection.
collect kisses like tally marks on a chalkboard
hate yourself more and more with each stoke
what else can you do?
you've already tried everything
and its left you recounting every word. every move.
you cared too much. you cared too much.
and look where its gotten you.
so keep tracing the silhouette of whats no longer there-
and learn to love not being awake.

I know it seems so easy to be sad, and that it requires more effort to be happy, but its worth it. Beautiful poem, but it exemplifies such sad things. You clearly have a talent. I challenge you to write a poem in the same style but titled "how to be happy". It will probably be much harder, but its an important part of life
