Had I been given this option five years ago, I would have chosen to read minds. I would have been thrilled to know what others think about when bored. I'd have been manipulative and used it to my advantage. I'd believe I could get any women and trick any man, but I now believe this would be a curse.
I have more doubts now and more insecurity. I feel like being an adult has been wearing a mask and playing an act. I work at a company and often wonder how it functions. I fear constantly that my peers will see me as I know myself to be.
Now, I would choose to speak with animals. Although, I don't think they'd say much and I'd prefer it that way. No lies, no coercion, and no mask. I really am tired of wearing that mask.

A while ago a girl moved in next door with her dog. One night there were loud fireworks in the distant and she left the dog outside so I talked to it to try to keep it calm. It said, "Not good.'' When it was alone it would say, "No one's home, " and I would say to this dog, "You will be alright." It would reply, "No I won't." However, it was incapable of a conversation. My dog has said, "Hello," many times. I have had cats that have said much more. None of them are capable of conversations, though.
