Anyone who's read any of the Pshew series (gross that I've been writing anything for that long that's not my work I've been procrastinating on) knows that my parents are hard on me and are generally very strict. Before I ask for advice, I just want to say my father has not yelled at me in weeks, my mom is considering taking the locks off of my phone, and I'm absolutely thrilled. My brother, mentioned in the previous Pshew, is in a lot of trouble right now and my parents are finally acknowledging his actions and realizing how I'm The Good Kid and they're being super nice, I guess to apologize for being so uptight for all these years. Anyway, instead of starting my 6-page The Great Gatsby midterms (right?) essay I have been listening to Dominic Fike and Evann McIntosh (my guitar playing crushes) all night after getting home from play rehearsal. I got bored and googled simplynailogical. She's the lady who did nail art a lot a couple of years ago and made holographic stuff her brand. She usually has fairly long nails and she made a video on how to keep them long. I watched that video when I was in 7th grade before my infamous peak and I just revisited it tonight because, as I said, the great Gatsby. I have wanted an acoustic guitar and a ukulele since I was quirky in 5th grade and ever since I started fabricating one of the characters in my work in 8th grade I've been really attracted to the electric guitar. I've been asking my parents for strings for years and I'm hoping that I get a guitar for my 15th birthday this summer before junior year because I'm also hoping that my parents let me hang out with my friends and I want to record our jam sessions and I love jam sessions with them because they're all so incredibly talented and we all work so well together and I love them all. Having a guitar would also help me in my personal quest of falling in love because honestly how cool would it be to play and then someone cute thinks that that's attractive like WOW. But getting to the point, if I do get this guitar, would it be wiser to keep my nails shorter or does length not matter? Also, is it easy to teach yourself how to tune and play? I'm generally a very ambitious person, as shown in all the other Pshews, so I think giving up wouldn't be something I'd do. I just can't get a job and I don't like asking people for money unless those people are my parents because it looks codependent. I want to learn with my own guitar all by myself for free.
(p.s. if anyone 14-17 ever needs to vent or talk or wants advice or just wants a friend, reply with your twitter, tik tok, or snapchat. I don't have instagram but feel free to drop that, too. Much love! <3)

why
ReplyI don't know what you're asking, but I assume you want to know why I want to play instruments? I find it a more suitable thing to resort to than self harm.
