Transforming

The weight was lifted off of my shoulders

my eyes were no longer clouded and blurry

it was like getting my first pair of glasses.

I found a way to pick myself up off of the ground,

dust myself off,

kiss all of my wounds,

and shower myself in self-care.

My body was no longer a rock on the ocean floor

as the smothering negativity was chipped away from my surface.

My fingertips chose to handle me with care.

I read words differently,

sunsets became more peaceful,

silence was no longer for suffering,

my pen wrote of happiness,

my concrete frown broke into a smile.

It was like being underwater for too long

and you finally come up for that gasping breath of air.

that relief.

that moment that you realize that you can touch the bottom

And so you stand.

I am no longer under the illusion that i am drowning.

--The day that you became my love.
