Floating.
Everything is floating.
No structure or roots to hold us down.
No guidance or mentors to push us forward.
Nothing but Chaos runs through the veins of those who are floating.
The same veins that pulse rapidly with dreams and the hopes and wishes of a generation lost in the clouds of their own thoughts.
A generation whose sense of self-importance and purpose can be cracked, maybe even shattered, by the chaos brought about by all this floating.
How does one walk when there is no earth beneath his feet?
Crowds like waves, struggle and crash against each other,
Trying to escape these asphalt canyons, deep cracks like the divisions they have between one another.
Where did this come from?
Has this always been the case?
Has this desperation been just beneath the surface?
Are civility and humanity nothing but a thin veneer under which our true selves lie?
Questions that have never before in our lifetimes crept through the armor of a routine
Are now like the weeds in your mother’s garden
Pervasive and seemingly endless.
Where do we go from here?
With eyes shielded from what lies ahead, it is difficult to see what is to come.
Some, like I, do not care to see
Rather, to live and keep our eyes trained on what is happening here on this day
And allow our thoughts of the future to remain lost in the clouds above us.
Our thoughts have long held residence there,
Drifting between what has, what may, and things that could not possibly be.
To live amongst the waves of such tumultuous cognitions,
Is it a curse?
Or was it preparation?
Preparation for this Life in Limbo.

Hourly Corona Virus Blues
I'm mad as hell. I am an hourly worker in an office. I am kind of a "floater" in the office and am known by my coworkers as a "get-it-done"...
This is beautifully written
