Im a teen who doesnt have as much common sense as anyone else, so im usually doing a lot of dumb stuff and embarrassing myself. But what makes me feel worse is the fact that my parents always get mad whenever this happens, and i hate it. It always makes me feel like a disappointment to my parents whenever they say, “Can you believe this honey? This is actually your daughter!”

Well, I don't think its nice for your parents to talk about you like that, but some do that and I'm really sorry. I wish there was some way you could not take it personally.
I remember wanting to develop more common sense. Thinking things through helps a lot. Think about everything before you do it, and ask yourself if its wise. If you do searches on developing common sense, you can learn a lot.
Obviously you're still young, so you shouldn't be expected to have a lot yet. Maybe you don't need to be so hard on yourself. <3
Replyhave a talk to your parents and try to get them to understand how these questions make you feel.
ReplyAs a teenager, I also have common sense issues. Right this very moment I am on punishment because I snuck a guy in my aunts house and my parents found out about it. My mother made me take out all of my jewelry and took away my phone. If you read my posts you will eventually find that it being "My fault" is something very common. I think as someone that comes from an emotionally abused background I can see why you feel a certain way. I'm sure that your parents love you no matter what they say when their upset. Maturity comes with experience, not age. So do all the "dumb stuff" and then don't do it again.
