So I have had problems eating new foods since I was a child. I stick to certain textures of food and won’t venture outside of it. My sister recently pointed it out and I have become more aware of it recently. One of my bigger problems is vegetables. It’s not that I don’t like them, it’s that I can’t eat them when they are cooked into anything else unless they are a very basic mixture of just steamed vegetables. I recently had to cook for my sister a light meal, carrots, celery, cauliflower, corn, and garlic noodles. I can eat all of these foods by themselves and raw but when it came to them all mixed into a bowl and cooked the texture almost sent me running to the bathroom. It gave me a lot of anxiety to eat them like that. What bothers me the most is my families fruit salad. A mixture of unrecognizable fruit, whipped topping, and sugar. I have never been close enough to smell it but my brain registers it as the smell of rotten potato salad, another one of my families favorite recipes. What bothers me the most about that is that other then my sister no one in my family has noticed that I never eat any of the food they make.
My dad’s chunky Spaghetti? No.
My brother’s famous Chili? No.
My mom’s BBQ Chiken? Once in a blue moon.
My food options are limited to raw fruits and vegetables or basic cooked meals. Even with pizza I only get cheese and garlic sauce, red sauce makes me gag.
I wish I could get over it or someone in my family could help me without telling me to, “just eat it.”

Stressed
I had to let go of my dreams because all my life I've been told that I'm not good enough, today I'm pursuing something I'm not even a little bit of interested,...

Im getting crazy
This quarantine made my mental slight bad cause I just stayed at home for how many months...I just want someone at my house to talk to like cousins or a friend....
Hey, its okay. Things like this are really difficult to get over. I'm pretty similar. I try to eat small amounts of something I don't really like until i can slowly stand it. It doesn't work with all foods, but it works with some.
ReplyHave you tried starting small? Eating only a little of something you think you can tolerate the most. Stick with only that and try a little more each time until it’s not an issue. Then move into something else and do the same thing. Just don’t force yourself to eat something that your stomach revolts to. Maybe you should talk to someone in your family so they can be there to offer support.
