I think we make a mistake by living as if we lived the life we are in already. We make routines and plans and live life as we expect it. We live for the future and this takes toll on our present. We concentrate and realise less in our present environment. We live for the future which never comes. During this journey, sometimes we make irreversible actions. This could be positive or negative. Since we do not feel like reversing positive outcomes, we usually think of this concept in the context of negative events. We label it irreversible but it is irreversible of what? It is irreversible of the life we imagined to live. Now, we feel we are so dependent on our life expectations that when something significant happens, we feel that it shouldn't have happened and based on the new environment, we try to create a new future for ourselves and if we find it difficult to do so, we get depressed. We never let go of things and let life flow in an at least less controlled environment if not at all. All the society, the history, people we interact with or the films that we see makes us look normal when we try to fit our lives into the cage of imaginary futures with many possibilities, we end up worrying and unsatisfied as what we want has not arrived. You think you want something for one moment and as soon as you get it, you feel so happy but after a while it is old news and not satisfactory any more. Instead of learning from this experience and not to expect happiness from external sources, we focus into getting some other object. What we are actually doing is keep wanting. The society of today has taught us not to feel complete if you do not want something. Feeling content is never ok. How many of us say I have everything I want? There is always room to improve and this room requires commitment to satisfy. What happened to the sufficiency of existence? Why are we led to believe that we are not in perfect condition when not hot or cold, hungry or thirsty or with your loved ones or alone in peace? We keep talking about how humanity fought for survival but are we really working to survive or having a rat race and trying to justify it by calling it survival? Look at yourself today and realise your most basic self being sufficient. Feel your heart beat, your breath and your entire body. You are perfect as it is, all the other things are just stuff. Enjoy your moment and do not forget that what you are going through is unique; it has never been lived before. It may be similar to another moment that you had but it is not the same. Your whole life is a collection of those unique moments. Learn to value every second of it. Be in the present. This is reality.
