I’m an external student alongside a few others in my sixth form tutor class, and when I offer my thoughts or perspectives in response to my teacher, no one speaks. It’s like they willingly pay attention and want to hang onto every word I say, whereas if it were another external student you’d hear a murmur in response or even a lack of engagement from their peers. Sometimes you hear jeers of mockery too. But that is some indication of interaction and initiation to reflect your own personality, and the practical jokers will always use this as an opportunity to showcase.
However, no one bothers to say a single word in reply to whatever I say in class. Not even the self-proclaimed class clown.
I just want to know what’s different with me, and why they don’t feel a sense of familiarity with me or don’t bother to also direct their energy towards me. I feel like I stick out like a sore thumb, because simultaneously no one wants to interact with me.
I’m not sure if they’re paying their respects, even when few seem like the last people on earth to do so, or if they’re that uncomfortable with my presence that they don’t want to engage with me at all.
It diminishes my confidence everyday, as I do not have a single person I could turn to in validation for every point I make. I feel like the teacher disregards me too for not being able to bring that lively environment to the class, no matter negative or positive.
I have always been open to talking, but I must be boring if my words can’t be turned and twisted to suit the humour or like-mindedness of others.
I’m not sure how to change this aspect of me. Was I just born to be uninteresting ?

They could be respecting, resenting, or be mocking you. To find out, pay attention to their body language.
ReplyI can't really tell you why they act the way they do because I don't know enough about how you act in school. If you'er really shy they may not want to scare you, if you have a mean look about you they could be scared, if you are really good looking they could be intimidated. Look at your own behavior and demeanor and compare it to some of the other kids to see similarities and differences. Start talking to people even if it is awkward at first, don't just wait for them to talk to you. Try to be positive and open, and don't forget to smile.
