I have long sat and pondered, in periods of isolation and introspection, about what it means to be an individual. In this time, I have heard those group-loving ones calling to me. They called to me, and urged me to return, for they needed me. But I stayed, for I did not need them. I stayed back and embraced myself. I made sure to love myself, for I knew that no one else could worship and celebrate like I could.
That is man's sole natural responsibility: to care for and love himself. He must be prepared to embrace himself. He must be prepared to celebrate triumphs, and he must be prepared to soothe through blunders.
What should this look like? And how should one fulfill this duty? Man can only serve himself if he knows himself. Those who want to fulfill this duty must temporarily withdraw from the noise and interference of the world. They must draw back into themselves and talk to themselves. They should avoid corrupting influences. They should avoid those who want to assert themselves. Verily, man can only flourish if he asserts his will over himself. Only once a dialogue is brought about between one and oneself can one begin to know who they are. And finally, once man knows every inch of his psyche can he begin to return to the world. Only once he has irrefutable claims over his mind and body can he return to his people.
