I have two career plans, I have to choose one.
I am currently working in food science field. But I always wanted to be a singer.
At this point of my life, I have two career plans, but I'm confused which plan I must go for.
Plan A is,
I will work in food science, and keep singing only as hobby. I will keep my 100% focus on food science. In this plan I may have to keep my singing for limited time. I may not even take time for it. This plan will provide me stability in career, for longer span.
Plan B is,
I will work in food science for next 8-10 years, to become financially stable, and after that I will quit working, and start my own music academy. And after that I will focus only on music. I can give my all time to music. I may even try production. It may not be financially stable career.
Which plan should I go for?

Plan B as long as you have a job to fall back on.
ReplyThink about the aspects of the job. These both seem to be passions. Iām very much the same way and would go art or law, but chose law because I absolutely cannot deal with commission times and dealing w customers that comes with art, but can stomach the hours for law
Replythat's very presumptuous...take this past year for instance- im sure many people said, yep im gonna do this that and the other then go on holiday....but things dont always work out. if you're passionate about something then strive for it. dont hold yourself back.....the sonest you'd focus on music in your plans are either never- or 10 years....let's say you're 20. you'd start at 30.....i dno about you but i'd rather focus in those 10 years knowing even if it did fail i had a lovely time full of what i hold close....and also not to mention that jobs can be volatile....keeping the same one/ similar in the same field can be difficult so you may work for 2 and then be fired......do what makes you happy and inspired....and in turn...make others happy and inspired.....~ J
ReplyAs someone who is an aspiring singer/songwriter myself. I say go for the singing. I watched a Ted talk earlier today on procrastination. The speaker showed a slide of a bunch of squares arranged on a slide. Each square represented a week of your life. When I saw that slide. Something happened to me. I realized how short of a time we really have on this earth. If something makes you happy. Do it. Don't waste your time working in a field you don't like. Don't get me wrong, we need money to survive in today's world. However maybe do part time work in your current field and start singing part time. Or if you have the savings just quit and take that leap of faith.
ReplyI think you should go for plan B atleast you won't regret that u didn't tried what ur passion was.
Replyi agree with everyone else
just do singing
start now
it doesn't matter even if you end up poor and not financially stable
just do what you love
life is too short
