My friend’s cat is really old and lately it hasn’t been eating or drinking water so clearly there’s a problem.
My friend seemed really concerned at first and he said he was going to try and get his parents to call the vet but they haven’t and my friend is no longer interested in taking his cat to the vet.
So I gave him a few reasons to take his cat to the vet and he said no. I told him I will get my parents to take his cat to the vet and he said no.
It’s neglect to not take the cat to the vet when something is obviously wrong and I’ve tried to be nice and I’m still okay with taking his cat to the vet but he keeps saying no so I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to just let the cat continue to starve itself, it’s just wrong to let an animal suffer. And I can partially understand my friend’s point of view, like he thinks the vet will put his cat down and he’s really attached to his cat but it’s an unhealthy attachment.
I really want to help my friend and his cat but he won’t let me. I could call the police but I really don’t want it to get that serious. Can anyone help?

Help I'm too anxious
I can't sleep because my heart beat is so strong and I'm so anxious I'm up late at 4am. The crazy thing is I'm not even DOING anything I'm doing nothing in bed...
Can you like pay for the cats treatment maybe it’s money?
Or if it’s to do with putting the cat down surely they have the choice not to like
ReplyI’ve offered to pay for a checkup of the cat but sadly he still said no. I’m pretty sure his family is doing fine financially. But yeah, I think my friend just can’t see clearly through the grief of knowing he will lose his cat soon and thinks going to the vet automatically means they’ll put his cat down meaning he’ll lose his cat even sooner. It’s so frustrating because going to the vet has a higher chance of saving the cat instead of losing it.
ReplyExactly!
ReplyCan you contact the parents directly? It’s possible they’ve just missed the cats illness and it’s worth talking to them about it as you can’t really take their cat to the vets without their consent
ReplyI asked my friend if he could give me at least one of his parent’s emails but he refused so I don’t have any form of contact at the moment. However, I think I might know their house address so I could try to send a letter.
ReplyIf you are in the USA contact the ASPCA and let them know about this situation. If you are in another country call your animal welfare number.
