Often we find subjects that interest us simply because it reflects our personalities and what we love. We can find others with the same interests and become friends. Our world will then have an open door with which we can find our path in life. Every path, however, will have some rough spots, some mistakes, some rough terrain, even some unfriendly passersby along the way.
One such direction is the often misunderstood group known as the furry fandom. I personally love anthropomorphic animals and like the idea behind this fandom, but have encountered several examples of individuals who have made it difficult to feel comfortable as a part of the fandom.
An example of this is occurs for every time when I, trying to compare my art with my peers, look up variations of "furry art". Although the fandom does not itself promote inappropriate or hateful content, many members have posted quite repulsive and dangerous content on the subject of this style of art. Even searching explicitly for sfw (safe for work) furry creations has yielded some, frankly regrettable material.
Mine is not the only opinion of its kind. Several 'furries' have posted the same message online and have even left the fandom as a result. They have also recognized that it is more than just the obscene content that is the issue; the problem we face is when these artists will not keep that mindset to themselves and post it publicly where I as well as other users and even children can be exposed to it.
Anyway, if any of you feel the same way about this, please post it in the comments! I would love to hear from you.
