I have a 13 year old daughter and over the past few days I've heard her tell her friends she wants a gun for her birthday. I am scared of what runs through her head.

She might want to look cool? But don’t get it
ReplyLMAOOOO WHAT. I dont think thats normal, im 17 female i never had such thoughts nor have my friends...
ReplyMaybe she said this for attention. If I were you I would be keeping a close watch on her.
ReplyJust remember all the crazy things you said and did as a teenager?
Just talk to her about it. Make sure she is okay. That she isn't being bullied. Is there anything that is worrying her or scaring her? The news is full of scary stuff now.
And if she is okay, maybe tell her that once she reaches a certain age (the age where you can be mentally prepared to take her), you will take her to a firing range to see what it's like. In order to have a gun, she must learn how to responsibly use one.
ReplyIs she asking for toy gun?
ReplyMaybe she's just joking around with her friends? Kids say the darndest things. But in any case maybe you should pay close attention to her. Try to figure out for yourself what's going on, and then once you have an idea, try to talk to her. I agree it's very alarming. 13 year old kids shouldn't be wanting things that are made for killing. (Nobody should, if you ask me)
