There's this thing I do a lot that sometimes makes me feel either really bad and upset or can sometimes help and I just wanted to know if a lot of people do it. This usually happens when its late and Im in bed or if Im not really doing anything and I just zone out so whenever Im on my own and stuff. Basically I create scenarios up in my head or imagine myself getting really badly hurt and ending up in hospital, but not from an accident or anything but from me attempting to commit or just self harming. So Im in a hospital bed and I just imagine the people that would come and visit, how certain people would react and what they would say and I hate doing this because then Im more tempted to hurt myself so my family and friends realise im not okay and Im struggling. Or I end up upsetting myself because my imagination is unrealistic and the way I imagine people to react is unrealistic which makes me feel like no one gives a shit about me.

I did it before. I tried to imagine myself lying in a coffin instead of a hospital bed. But don't think that this is normal. You should talk to someone you really really trust. Communication is reeeeaaaally the key.
ReplyIβve done this my entire life, and my best friend does too. I believe itβs called Maladaptive daydreaming or something akin to that. To me, and to my friend, itβs a coping mechanism. But it can be different for everyone π
