I'm in middle school. Before I never really felt that girly. Yeah I wouldn't mind wearing dresses for nice occasions and wore makeup for a Halloween costume once, but now I want to do my makeup and have a skincare routine. I want to be a girly girl!
It's not because of peer pressure or because I hate myself. It's just how I am. The problem is, I can't communicate that well, and I'm kinda afraid that my family will think I'm wierd for wanting to be girly. Even though, as far as I can tell, it's perfectly normal to start getting girlier as you grow into a teenager. It's strange.
Another problem would be that It's hard to go to the store and get what I need because of covid. I'm getting my room redone so I might add some more "girly" aspects into that but I also wanna keep it cozy.

Do what you want. I'm also in middle school and I'm feeling the opposite. I'm cutting my hair shorter and shorter and honestly I feel like my mom thinks I'm weird.
ReplyIt's totally normal! I'm sure it's to do with the post puberty changes.. It's all good, nothing to worry about at all :) Do what you wanna. Don't care about what people might think because they anyway won't stop judging. Have a great day ahead!!
Replyyay! this is so fun! I went through the same thing in middle school and getting girly is just so fun your going to love it! Besides clothes shopping some other things to try are doing regular face masks, learning some hairstyles, using lip gloss or chapstick, try to always smell nice with body spray or perfume, and just good hygiene goes a LONG way trust me. Oh and here's a youtube channel that would really help if you haven't seen it already: https://www.youtube.com/user/AlexandrasGirlyTalk

ReplyI started later on make up and stuff too, but my sister helped me out so it wasn't so stressful. It's fun though so I hope you can find a style you like for your looks and your room! IMO your friends and family might be ??? at first, but it's probably because it's new and different. You're expressing yourself well here. Do you have a list of actresses, singers or similar you like? You might say in your own words, "I like the way she does her makeup, I wonder what I would need to learn in order to do that?" It's definitely a habit to get used to, but you're still girly even if you decide not to follow the 10 Step routine or put on makeup that day. (or a week)
Pinterest is cool for ideas and 'cozy' is the best aesthetic. Some sheer or lace curtains, or a few lovely decorations you find interesting, even a cute journal and some gel pens can start adding some girliness to your room. I think of 'soft' when I think of cozy. A new blanket with patterns you like, a strings of bead lights for over your bed or on the wall for example?
Good luck!
