I am a 16 yr old born as a Hindu and I want to convert to Christianity. I have done my research on other realigns like Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism etc, I want to change my beliefs because I am convinced that the Christian message is true. It just makes sense. Christianity is not just a religion rather a personal relationship with God. I am reading the Bible now and I have come to realize its value and treasure it. I have a Christian friend who helps me understand the Bible. I believe that Jesus died to save us from our sins. After talking with God and putting my faith in HIm, miracles have happened. I just can't believe it. I am surprised. I never thought God loved his people, rather He liked watching his people suffer. But, now I realize that God loves us and sent Jesus to die for our sins. In hinduism, you try to do good deeds to balance the bad deeds. But, the bad deeds will always stay with me. But, the Bible has taught me to ask for forgiveness. My life has changed a lot for the better. My question is that how can I convert from Hinduism to Christianity? Advise

First of all, congrats. I'm a Christian and I'm so happy for you! There's nothing all that magical about converting. I became a Christian around 10 years old. You just close your eyes, bow your head, and fold your hands together. Then you can say a prayer that goes something along the lines of "Dear God, I believe that you sent your son to die on the cross for me. I love you for that and ask that you forgive me of my sins. Amen.". If your parents are Hindu, they may not be that accepting, so you may have to wait until you move out to start going to Christian church or anything like that. If they are accepting, great! If not, don't let them discourage you. Good luck in building your relationship with God!
ReplyHi, fellow Christian here. before you proceed with this, please make sure u actually want to officially become a christian. As a little non-traditional but still orthodox Christian I can tell you that I'm not a part of the church and it's more comfortable for me this way. But if you are adamant about joining the church, you will first have to determine which branch of Christianity you'd like to join. Catholicism, Orthodox Christianity, Protestantism, Baptism, Evangelism etc. Do your research about those. Then you'll have to find the closest church of that branch of christianity and go there to talk to the priest. You can tell them why you want to convert and they will baptize you. Hopefully all goes well! Good luck!
ReplyA different opinion : studying comparitive religions takes a lot of time. Even if you have decided to convert, continuing study may benefit you and help you understand better.
Is it not true that what you learned about some topic at 10 yrs of age, Is different from what you understand about that same topic today?
It is a wise saying that " keep learning til you are at your deathbed". As you learn you will grow and hopefully become the best human being you can be. May the highest Authority help you in your journey to understanding the Truth better.
