a poem inspired by the song

i lay under the stars and think

i think about how we once danced here

and now i’m alone.

i made a mistake

that mistake ruined me

it made me lose you

you finally said the words

the three forbidden words

the words that mean more than the world in itself

and i couldn’t say them back

i froze

and stayed silent

i wanted to so badly say it back but couldn’t.

you’ve moved on

yet i still think about you

think about how we used to dance

about how i used to get butterflies just seeing you

about taking long trips to be with each other

about how much i loved you.

and i don’t know how to show you

but i can tell you that if i had the chance

even if the whole world was watching

i would still dance with you

just once again

under these stars

where i now lay alone.
