The purpose of life is to be distracted constantly. I heard a study that people spend up to 47% of their day thinking about the past or the future. Think about all the people you see in a day- servers taking your order, bus drivers, and that hot guy that runs every evening after work. Chances are everyone you see has a 50% likelihood to be in la-la land thinking about the past or the future. They are thinking about what they would do differently or change about themselves. It makes me wonder if you can find the purpose of life in the present. Are we just chasing purpose? Similar to how the hot guy running is really chasing my love. I am convinced he is. I can see it in his eyes while I secretly stare.
Most days, I feel like a purposeless shell, schlepping around, pushing papers, refusing to do my taxes or go to the gym. I am simply waiting for when I will be my best self but never acting, only thinking about it. Maybe the purpose of life is always to be distracting yourself from the present. Without being aware, you are slowly creating your narrative and never recognizing it because you are in la-la land half of the time, checked out of the present.
