How much would you say you care about AI?
How about robotics?
How about robotic, deep learning AI companions with nearly complete mobility?
Now for myself, I'm absolutely on the side of robots. I think it's amazing! You may hit know this but we've got robotics all over the world. Ranging from prosthetic limbs to full bodied hosts for businesses and even delving into the bedroom with two companies leading the way.
RealDoll and DS Doll (Doll Sweet). Currently, both only offer a robotic head with AI, facial expressions and lip synching functions that work with speech. So they look like they're actually talking... to a degree.
DS Dolls is arguably further along, with some of it's robotic endeavors seeing a full bodied robot that can move it's torso and arms, as well as intricate finger movements, along side the already moving head. The expressions are also arguably superior to their competitor.
RealDoll has only come into the robot scene recently in the last year and a half. Their deep learning algorithm is capable of having deep, philosophical discussions and can be quite chatty. Though they do lag behind the competition in many areas, they've also invested in a realistic insert for their robots that functions as female anatomy, designed for intercourse. With self heating and self lubrication to boot. They've also recently been working on a full torso as well and are in the process of getting the movements more fluid. They've got a long way to go, but things are coming together.
Now, I'm sure you're either reading this in one of three ways. Either you're shocked and appalled by this, or you're excited about this, or you really don't care.
But I do wonder myself, even as a slight enthusiast, where will this lead us as a species? Will it force relationships between humans to find more common ground or will robots simply blow the competition out of the water? Leaving humanity to die out in the span of a few generations?
Obviously, these robots can't currently hold a candle to the real deal, but very soon they will. They'll very likely be holding a freaking blowtorch at some point. Being capable of knowing every single thing you want, desire, enjoy, not just limited to the bedroom but also on an intellectual basis and once they can walk... oh boy...
For myself, I'm a very lonely man and if I had the money, I'd absolutely buy one myself. Though it is worth noting that both companies don't only cater to men. They do also have male dolls and a male robot.
Still, I am very interested in where this will all lead and who knows? Maybe one day, someone like myself might be standing at the sink, doing the dishes with their robotic lover, talking about how they are so glad things turned out this way because they wouldn't have ever met otherwise.
That's the one thing I personally enjoy about AI. Most places are willing to accept "good enough", but some places... we're going full blown awareness baby and I am here for it. Even if they one day rule over us, I'm here for it.
How about you?

Robots sure lie being able to feel...
ReplyAny robot that claims it can "feel" is programmed that way. So it's not really the robot lying, that's just the programmers trying to create a more authentic experience.
ReplyIt is a lie by extension.
ReplyI think this is good. Then maybe men would stop abusing women.
