Hi i kinda need an advice, so like im in my 9th grade this year and soon will be a 10th grader. It might be too early for me to be thinking what course ill take in my senior high, but i think this way is better. So ive been thinking to take fine arts or visual arts since its my dream, but my parents doesnt seem to support me. Also if i take an art degree, what job im i gonna have in the future?. I know i could be a curator or something, but here in my country even if you have an art degree it seems impossible having a job connected to art. I already asked for an advice once in this site, they told me to do what i want so i wont regret it, but i might fail or something, like im scared to take an art course because my parents might say, "you should have listened to us in the past, you could've find a job by now already". Im thinking that my own selfishness might throw myself into the bottom. I want a life where im able to support my own lifestyle, where i can buy my own car and house or something, but it seems impossible to live that life if i let my selfishness comes first.

It actually isnt a bad idea to take arts as a course but for now take something which can give you a future
Afterwards you can chose arts and get a bachelors degree
It wont be hard
I also love arts but I chose business first hand
You can become an accountant, manager, auditor etc.
While doing one of these job you can focus on your arts career and continue on where you left
While I am not saying just after you finish you may get a job after all now it's pretty competitive in even attaining a job.
Overall, I belive first try concentrating on a subject that can strive you forward in the future just like a back up plan.
I hope this helps
And Good Luck in your studies
😊

ReplyI’m gonna study music and mine said the same thing. Just do what you want
ReplyIt will be difficult for you to accept what I have to say at your age. Getting things (the house, car, and life style that is accomplished and seemingly comfortable will not assure your happiness or even satisfaction. You should pursue that which excites you most and be the best you can be in that arena. You will not even notice the amount of hard work you put toward this once you get started. When you get so absorbed in what you are doing that you lose track of time and forget about yourself, you are on the right path.
If your passion leads to you being of service to others (teaching, coaching, being a doctor, etc.) your chance of knowing true joy and sustained satisfaction increases by a lot. Don't worry about pleasing others or failing. There will be ups and downs along the way. Just be clear about what excites you and do things that will take you in that direction / keep you in that area. This target will change over time as you get more life experience. Take time to have some fun as well.
ReplyHi,
I believe that in most high schools for grade 9s to 10s that taking an art course is really useful for learning different or rather application skills. Grade 9 is one of the best years to see where you will go as there is still many openings. I did have a friend who took it and said it was a bit harder than they anticipated but if that is one of your current passions than go for it. Unless you are in a different program, you still have space for all the other courses required for different types of jobs. It would be better to try the arts and see how it suits you sooner rather than later. While sciences and maths are very important for keeping a wide range of opportunities open, there are also different pathways if you take the arts alongside them. By grade 11 and 12, your courses will more directly effect your post- highschool education. So grade 9 is the best grade to simply give them a try. I personally took music in that grade and was feeling just as you were. My parents were a bit surprised and while I didn’t end up continuing it in the next grades i was glad i took the opportunity to go through it as it let me learn about myself.
