I've been acting for a long time now. I don't mean professionally, just personally. In front of my parents, I'm meek, submissive (no other word for it), and basically downtrodden. (most of the time) The reason for this is because that's how they want me to be. But it's not, so whenever it just gets too much, I crack. When this happens, they just make a really big deal out of it and say just how much I've been a disgrace to my family. Personally, I think they're still stuck in the 19s or 18s when girls practically had no say in anything. They even make me dress up like that! Dresses with big poofy skirts, long-sleeved or round. They reach 5 inches down my knees. I don't even own any T-shirts or jeans! My hair even reaches waay past my butt, but that's okay. It's just the other things....I so don't want to be the odd one out. My sister was born 3 years after me, but they don't traditionalize her half the way they do me. I'm so tired of the stares and odd whispers.

i dont know what to do
I love my parents but they dont want to learn anything. They are dependent on me for lot of stuff which has prevented me from doing things and going places...
That's called abuse in this day and age, dear. No one should feel that constant need to hide themselves. It's unnatural and bad for your health to live like that. I hope you can escape that situation.
ReplyHave a good talk to your parents about this. It sounds like they are over protecting you. Tell them that it isn't the last century and you are getting odd stares and whispers, and if you dress properly you still know how to keep out of trouble.
