I'm really good at something

I don't wanna say this to people I know because I don't wanna sound like I'm bragging or full of myself but I feel pretty good about myself right now. I've been doing stand-up comedy and I'm getting pretty good at it. I'm not the best at it and there's lots of room for improvement but I feel like I'm good at it.

Tonight I was on a show with more experienced comics who came out from the city and nobody really got any laughs till I came on and I got some big laughs. I can usually make people laugh no matter how dead the crowd is. I often get the biggest laughs of the night. People tell me I'm funny and really likable. I've been meeting a lot of people and getting asked to host shows and stuff and a lot of people seem to think I'm smart and have a lot of potential.

I don't think I'm destined to be famous or anything but it makes me really happy that I'm good at stand-up because I really love it. Maybe that's what makes me good, because I spend my free time trying to get better. I go to the library for hours to write jokes and I watch videos of my sets over and over to see when people laughed and I practice in my room and in the car and I never rest on my laurels or settle for mediocrity.

Although I haven't done anything great or inspiring I am still really proud of myself, because I started with zero jokes and made it to where I am now. It took me so damn long to start getting booked on shows but now I'm on shows every week. Maybe I'll never get any better than I am now but I feel really hopeful that this might work out for me. Not that I want others to do bad, but it feels really good that I can be funnier than the older, more experienced comics.

There's not really anything else I wanna do and I'm glad it's not just a pipe dream. I'm not giving up any time soon.
