God inflicts pain. He relieves our pain by allowing us to die. He's the third party witness to our pain. He's our cheerleader and our torturer. He is executioner and shepherd.
A shepherd kills his flock. Did you ever think about that? The shepherd metaphor is about death. He keeps us safe and cares for us then slaughters us for food or profit.
