Does anyone have tips on how to do really well in school. The thing is my averages are usually in the 90s. But since we are back to in-person school it's a lot harder so my averages are in 80s. I really want my average to be in the 90s but idk what else I can do. I have a hard time paying attention in class because I'm always tired. However I still try and do all my homework and review notes. I just feel so bad because there are many kids with averages in the 90s and idk how they do it. My work ethic is poor but idk how to fix it. Does anyone have any hacks. I know a big thing is to pay attention in class, get sleep, do hw etc. but is there anything else cuz I'm very desperate. I just feel so bad about myself because most people around me seem so smart. They barely do homework and get 90s. Like my friend didnt do any of the homework but still got 95% on their test. Help please?

showing the teacher that you really care about your grades and your performance in their class really helps ! Participate a lot just by raising your hand and asking questions. I know participation can be scary sometimes well at least for me, so just talking to your teacher about something after class is also good. Just making your teacher really know you will help them see that you are a good student in their class. It’ll help if you need any extra credit or help on an assignment.
ReplyThey key to extremely powerful academic success is to not care about academic success at all. Instead make wisdom, knowing, understanding, and real mental expansion your true goals and you will automatically get better scores.
Reply?? Just because you have 80s now and dont have 90s like in the past you dont consider yourself as “smart” anymore? Ridiculous. Seems like you are just obsessed with “doing well” but dont actually care about learning. All you are talking about here is grades and being jealous of people in 90s and thinking they are “smart.” As a person who have gotten mid 90s both online vs in person, I have to say work smarter not harder. Im also a student who dont focus on homework aspect. Why? Its waste of time. What matters from hw is question & the answer, not the process. So you study your hw question & answer, read bold letters or key points, summary, and class notes. Take a test. First test is trickiest because you dont know what will be in the test. And its okay, just try your best. Now, after first test, you notice where the questions are from. So spend more time on the resources that has answer for the test. Boom. There ya go.
ReplyThank you for your advice but I never said I was jealous of people in the 90s. I just want to boost my mark up to that level. And yes maybe I am obsessed with my actual mark and not the learning part. But that’s literally the school system. Schools make students worth based on grades. You have a bad mark? You cant get into you’re number 1 choice college. So yes maybe grades do matter too
ReplyAs someone who always gets 90s, my trick is just to pay attention to what teachers are teaching. Then I do my homework and if I have questions, I watch youtube videos. Then I do well on tests. I think maybe you just need to spend more time with your teacher and ask them why you got certain things wrong. Master your concept and you'll do well
ReplyFirst of all I feel like you might be either a really selfish or a jealous person. But no offense, I'm just telling cuz I felt so. Yeah, coming to the point. This behavior is so bad. Like study for yourselves. Never question how others score better than you. You never know if they worked hard for it in silence and didn't inform you they did. Only advice I'll give you is never compare your marks with your classmates' marks. Comparing yours and your neighbors' marks are the basic cause of jealousy in the world. Compare your previous marks with your marks now and not with others' mark. Yeah and I know parents do this a lot but you kids as the new generation must bring an end to this comparison. Don't be jealous of your neighbor. People get what they worked for. My best friend is so smart. She doesn't even listen to the classes but still scores better marks than me and I know the reason. She reads the chapters from home and learns by herself. She studies from home and never informs others that she did. But you know, since she's been my best friend for over 10 years I know that she's the kind of person who works in silence and shines in public. I'm proud of her cuz she's worked for it. I'm not jealous since I get lower marks than her cuz I know I didn't work for it. That's it. Yeah, I hope you get the point. All the best. Read the textbooks first and learn for yourselves and not to beat others.
ReplyThank you for your advice. I just feel like its unfair for you to call me jealous and selfish. I NEVER said I was jealous of anyone's marks. I said I PERSONALLY feel bad because I think there's something wrong with me because i have a hard time focusing. I know your post didn't mean any harm but it couldve done without the part of u calling me jealous and selfish because you dont know me personally. I dont even think you will see this anyway so this is kind of useless saying this. Also you dont know my background. I've been compared most of my life so comparing myself to others comes naturally. This doesn't mean im jealous of anyone. People with high marks deserve their marks because they work for it. Anyways have a good day
ReplyKnow that everyone is different, and it's okay. As long as you're truly trying your best, that's all that matters. By looking at how other people are doing and feeling bad, we're not making ourselves feel any better. Instead, focus on yourself! Know that you tried, and that's the best you could do. I would also have to say (I know you already said it in the post) but really, this truly is important: SLEEP. If you don't have enough sleep, it's like a domino effect. If you don't get sleep, you get tired, and if you're tired, you can't focus, and if you can't focus, you can't pay attention in class, then if you can't pay attention in class, it will be harder to recap, study, and review it when there are tests now. So please get as much sleep as you can! Since you seem motivated to do well in school, I'm sure you'll be able to motivate yourself even more! Being organized is also a great thing! If all of your stuff is organized, you'll be able to get to work more quickly and think better. :) Finally, try doing your homework and all of that stuff early! Once you're done with them, you can have a break, rest, and then have a good sleep! ^___^ Affirmations also help me (ex: saying I'm good, I'm calm, I'm great).
God bless.
