I hate myself. My body is getting larger in size and most of my clothes don't fit anymore. I get chubbier and all my belly, oh boy, I look like a pregnant lady. Thighs to calves looking like two thick straight lines. I hate it when I keep on getting fatter but not taller. I've been doing all kinds of exercise (inconsistently), but still fails miserably. I know I know that losing weight is all 80% diet and only 20% exercise. How can I reduce my calories if I have a nanny who always cooks me food. Every time I tell her I want to lose weight and do a diet (or at LEAST, just reduce my portions), she's mad at me. She said that "Don't blame foods in everything, your sleep schedule and mood depends on your weight loss as well". Well fair enough, but diets play a HUGE role on weight loss journey and you can't tell me otherwise. She keeps telling that I don't look fat because of my height, despite ignoring my BMI, which said "overweight". And whenever I try arguing with her, she becomes childish, stubborn, and probably just ignoring me for the rest of the day. Don't get me wrong, I love her, but this is not OK. What should I do? I really want to lose weight to gain confidence and be healthy.

Y'all need to not ruin this site like you did with Vigyaa
For a year, I wrote on Vigyaa.io and when it got shut down, I was devastated. All those lovely thoughts about the man I secretly love were gone without warning....
You need to explain to your nanny the effects of overweight and that you want to lose weight for good. Diet won't help you that much but exercising will help you a lot by doing chores every single day that's what I do and I maintain my weight. Well, you can jog or walk around for 20 minutes. I know foods that cook by our loved ones can be tempting so you need only a one scoop of rice and no second or third helpings. Eat healthy foods and drink plenty of water (it has zero calories). Of course, you need to motivate yourself too and write a journal.
ReplySelf control is the only answer. Doesn’t matter if your nanny is cooking for you. If she doesn’t want to help you with dieting, then do it yourself. Eat the food she cooks but reduce the portions yourself, eat half of what she gives you. You seem old enough to make your own choices. It’s your body and what you consume is on you and only you.
You can’t make excuses like your nanny is always cooking food for you because that’s what she has to do, provide and care for you. It’s not like she’s going to shove the food down your throat. It’s your choice on how you consume food.
Key: Self control/portion control (eat what you want but in moderation), be productive (go for walks, run errands, have a dance party in your room. anything is better than just laying in bed or sitting around doing nothing) and most importantly, drink lots of water.
ReplyExcellent advice, very true.

No religion required, and better yet: no public displays of devotion required. Some bullies will label this "trolling", so "change the channel" now if of no interest to you.

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
ReplyWoah...One paragraph and many emotions, allow me to answer you.
#1: Ok, so your body is getting chubbier. It's only a matter of health concern, not beauty. I'm more worried about your health, please don't call yourself unattractive.
#2: Consistency is key. Ever heard of the tale of the hare and tortoise? ;) You gotta work on that
#3: I'm not sure how old you are, but if you're under 21, you're still developing. The word "dieting" should not be in your vocabulary. Sure, transition to healthier foods and quit junk food, but don't cut your calories or starve yourself. You're gonna find yourself new health issues when you get old if you do that
#4: Losing weight is more about exercise, not diet :)
#5: Height is genetic. Consume more proteins and calcium. Exercise. And just be you. It's all genes, haha :)
#6: Are you sure you're chubby in the first place? I am 40 pounds underweight than my expected BMI, not because I look like a stick, but because my bones are extremely low in density. You should consult a physician. Also, if you're a teen girl, then gaining fat is normal and healthy.
Be confident in your personality and love yourself :)
ReplyHa, yes!! I relate to #3 said by the commenter above. I'm 5'1" and 47kg but thighs and belly are so chubbier than anyone with the same height and weight. Weird but idk how that works. My mom feeds me rice 3 times a day and I consume a lot of sugar. I can't seem to get less chubbier.. So recently, I mean 4 days ago I decided to starve myself and I did. And yesterday I ended up in hospital with a severe stomach ache. Results came out that my sgpt (liver enzyme) raised to 116 (0-45 is the normal), i got a urinary infection, glucose level went down etcetera. Doctor asked me if I was having alcohol all these days to cause so many abnormalities inside me. So the point is, eat healthy.. Eat veggies a lot and never try to starve. Drink enough water. Do exercise and don't expect your thighs to get slimmer on the second day or the week itself. It may take 3-6 months to show huge results. Maybe find a trainer to help you with it. Don't worry. There are so many girls like you going through the same situation and it too shall pass :))
ReplyStop right there. Never call yourself fat or talk negatively about yourself. I'm serious. What is so bad about being bigger anyways? Just because society has made the beauty standard big butts, boobs and skinny doesn't mean you need to live up to that. I thought I was fat for so long and it caused me to develop a eating disorder. I am now extremely skinny but still sometimes think I have fat on me. But I got in the mindset of thinking of myself first. Why would I care if this random person I pass thinks I'm bigger. I don't care they can think what they want and you should think this way too. Please I hate seeing people ashamed of their bodies because everyone is beautiful in their own way.
